Stillnaz Youth Family Update 10/18

Hey SNY Families,

Isn’t this fall weather great!? Pumpkin spice is in the air, haha! I hope that you find some time this week to slow down and take a deep breath to appreciate God’s beauty of the changing color colors.

We continue in our series of “How NOT to be the Church” during our Sunday School classes and Ignite sermons along with all the other ministries of the church. Last Tuesday we had Pastor Josh as a guest preacher to our teens, and I will be finishing up the last sermon of the series next Tuesday at the Farewell Party. Reminder that the whole church is invited to join us for worship and fellowship next Tuesday 10/24. We have also clarified that my last day on staff and living in York will be Sunday 11/5. My family appreciates your prayers as we transition to this next season of ministry, as we will continue to pray for Stillmeadow and the youth ministry specifically.

You can expect additional details about the leadership of the youth ministry within the upcoming week. There is also only a couple weeks left to register for 30 Hour Famine… don’t miss out on the opportunity to serve others around the world by fundraising! That’s all for now— May the Lord bless you in abundance this week as we live out our mission to be Jesus to All Generations!

Grace and Peace,

-Pastor Chris

Upcoming Events

October 24: Fuller Family going-away Party

Dear youth and youth families,
A few weeks ago we received the news that Pastor Chris is following God’s call to a new path of ministry and he will be leaving us here as stillmeadow. Although we are sad to see him go, we are excited for him and his family to adventure to this new experience and journey in their walk with Christ. We want to celebrate, say goodbye, and send the Fullers off with a little party to show our appreciation for the last 4 years of ministry to Stillmeadow. On October 24 you are all invited to come and attend Ignite that evening to celebrate and say goodbye to the Fuller’s as they prepare to start the new journey shortly after that day. Please bring a snack to share if you would like, and come ready to have fun and fellowship during Ignite. There may even be an adult vs. teens dodgeball game to end the night! So mark your calendars for October 24th to come out and enjoy the night and bid farewell to the Fullers. All are welcome!

Sincerely,
Natalie Wagner
NYI President

October 31: Fun 5th Tuesday- Costumes encouraged

It’s a 5th Tuesday this month and we are excited to celebrate the joy of the Lord through fellowship and games! It is a great connection night for students to invite friends from school, especially ones who may not be connected to another church! It’s halloween too, so we look forward to having a good time with church appropriate costumes. (Consider principles of modesty and being sure to avoid anything that is grotesque or that dishonors the Lord)

November 4: Fall Fest

This is a new event hosted at Natalie & Garrett Wagner’s house 3-8pm. There will be games, food and fun all afternoon. It’s a no-cost and fun event where the whole youth group is invited. Please bring your favorite fall dish, snack, or drink to share!

November 5: Pastor Chris Last Day

It’s been a grand adventure serving as youth and young adult pastor over the last 4 years. My last day on staff will be Sunday November 5th.

November 10-11: 30 Hour Famine

We are partnering with WorldVision to raise funds and awareness to combat global hunger and poverty. Students are encouraged to begin fasting at noon on Friday 11/10, arrive at our York City Campus (350 Chestnut st) by 7pm for a lock-in where we will worship and learn about WorldVision’s mission, then on Saturday we will participate in service projects around York county. We conclude the event with a feast at 6pm! You can register for the event and begin raising funds right away! Register HERE!

November 21: Ignite Family Night & Parent Cohort

It’s our quarterly family night. Elementary aged kiddos are encouraged to join the youth group for worship and games. Parents will stay to have a parent cohort with Pastor Josh and the interim youth personnel to discuss the status and direction of youth ministry and its leadership (spoiler alert— It’s still Jesus! :) )

Dec 1-2: Youth Equipped to Serve (Y.E.S.— 11th & 12th grades only)

This is our district’s biannual event that helps our juniors and senior understand how God is calling them to serve in the world. It is led by our very own Pastor Josh Kleinfeld and Caleb Lynch. We all have a calling to serve God, whether it’s as a teacher, pastor, doctor, nurse, construction worker, whatever! We want to partner with our students as they approach the end of their high school time to discern how God might be calling them vocationally. Registration for this event is now closed, please join us in prayer for our upperclassmen who are attending this event that God would be at work in them in preparation for the event and continued service as they enter adulthood.

December 19: Ignite Christmas Party

It’s a Christmas party! Wear your fun festive clothing (ugly sweaters and light-up things are highly encouraged), and come prepared for a $5 white elephant gift exchange!
